Recently, we have found ourselves going to the new Medical City for our medical needs. It is conveniently located, parking is a breeze, and it has new facilities and reputable doctors.
When you go to the doctors’ clinics though, it is quite frustrating to wait for the elevators. We are told that new and additional elevators will be added although I don’t know what the timetable is.
We are usually there at 9am or 10am on a Saturday and at that time, you will typically see long lines of people waiting for the three elevators. You will wait for about 10-15 minutes, at any one time and once inside the elevator, you feel cramped from the sheer number of people inside the elevator. When there, I feel my blood pressure slowly rising.
Anyway, they really should do something about it. The hospital experience includes everything that happens to you when inside the hospital, and that includes the elevator experience.
The last time we were there, we saw that they have now put up some Mak Visual screens near the elevators — to show quotations and other materials about Medical City. Aside from serving to promote the hospital, I guess it entertains patients while waiting for their elevator ride. Following are some of the quotes which I found useful or amusing:
“If you’re going through hell, keep going.” — Churchill
“Love is grand. Divorce is a hundred grand.”
The best of all: “Love your enemies. It really pisses them off.”
I hope the elevators improve soon. Better yet, stay healthy and stay out of hospitals.
