Information at Tiendesitas

We were at Tiendesitas yesterday and we were searching for Dulcelin so we could buy some mango torte.

We thought we were in luck when as we searched, we saw a counter which was labelled “Information.”

We approached the female staff who was there and asked where Dulcelin was. She inquired: “Ano pong tinda nila?” (What do they sell?)

I answered by saying mango torte but the girl still looked clueless. She was soon joined by a guy who struck me as some sort of security person. The girl asked him if he knew where Dulcelin was.

He then asked me again what product Dulcelin sold. I answered again, mango torte. He then went on several times to clarify whether I meant mango or mongo. I found myself saying: mango, mango, mango nga e.

Then the girl suddenly gets the bright idea to check a list which she had right from the start. (I wonder why she didn’t check it immediately to avoid the waste in time.) She then tells me that it was in the “delicacy section” and pointed me in the right direction.

I did get my mango torte but I had to get irritated first. I had to stop myself from telling them that it might be a good idea to take down the label “Information” as they couldn’t give information right away.

Anyway, all’s well that ends well. It would do Tiendesitas good though if their staff were well-versed about the stores or stalls that were available and where these could be found.

Speaking of Tiendesitas, we were there at noon and it was scorching hot. There were not too many people and the place looked a bit lifeless. I don’t know if anything can be done about the heat there but unless that’s addressed, then I guess it will just succeed as a night market.
