What to Consider When Looking for a Job (Part 2)

4. Opportunity to learn. – who wants a boring job where you can’t even exercise your brain cells the least bit? The job you choose must expose you to new things, concepts, and experiences — all designed to train you to become a better person, boss, or employee.

5. People you will be working with. – no use staying in a job where you don’t even like the people. Remember, you’ll be spending most of your waking hours with them so at the least, you must be able to tolerate them. Of course, it is much better, if you actually enjoy working with the team as that will make your work less stressful. Take the cue from your prospective boss. Observe people when you go for your interviews. Do they deal with you professionally? Do you feel like you will blend in?

6. Possible career path. – if you are eyeing a particular position in a specific company, where do you think you will be 5 years from now? Is there room for you to move up or sideways? Choose a company which offers you room for growth — if not within the same company, outside of it as well. How versatile or marketable will you be after working with this company, in the same position for say, a year or two?
